Welcome to Gear Glide Driving School!

Instructor Introduction

Hi, my name is Sarwat, and I live my life with passion—passion drives me! My journey as a driving instructor began from a place of necessity and love. Like many women in Canada, I started driving to ensure my kids were safe from the extreme cold during winter. But little did I know, my true calling was hidden behind the wheel.
I began noticing mistakes in the driving of my relatives and friends while sitting in the passenger seat, and I couldn’t help but guide them. One day, a driving school vehicle passed by, and it hit me like a lightning bolt: “Wow, I MUST become an instructor!”  That was the moment I realized my passion wasn’t just about driving—it was about teaching, guiding, and mentoring others.
From that day forward, I pursued this career with unwavering determination. It wasn’t about money; it was about fulfilling something deep inside me. I upgraded my licenses, passed all my tests on the first attempt, and in 2018, I achieved my dream of becoming a driving instructor. But my journey didn’t stop there. My passion led me to open my own driving school, *Gear Glide Driving School*.
The name “Gear Glide” came to life during a lesson with one of my students. While teaching her how to switch lanes, she said, “Aaah! Okay! We need to GLIDE into the lane!” I laughed and said, “YES! That’s exactly why it’s called Gear Glide Driving School!”
I love my students. Sitting beside them, I’ve learned to deeply understand their strengths, weaknesses, and emotions. When they lose courage, I’m there to encourage them. I remind them of their strength and help them keep moving forward. I’m not just an instructor—I’m a *MENTOR*.
I still remember the first day of my instructor training. They asked us to write one thing about ourselves, and I wrote, “I am a MENTOR.” I truly believe that a driving instructor cannot succeed unless they are a mentor. I guide, I empathize, and I teach with patience and understanding. My goal isn’t just to help students pass their road tests—it’s to create confident, responsible drivers who understand and respect Alberta’s driving rules and regulations.
I want my students to fall in love with driving, not see it as a frustrating chore. My mission is to make a positive difference in their lives—not just in their driving skills, but in how they handle stressful situations on and off the road. I want to inspire them to approach life with a positive perspective, one lane changes at a time!
